Bistek

I craved for this dish when I was pregnant with my second child! It’s probably the sourness that makes me salivate just thinking about it! I reduced the amount of pepper in this recipe, but if you like your food HOT, by all means add more pepper!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lb sirloin or chuck roast
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 tbsp butter

Directions:

  • Slice the sirloin thinly. Make sure you slice it across the grain, this will make your beef tender when cooked.
  • Marinate in soy sauce, worcestershire, lemon juice and pepper.
  • In a saute pan, add the butter and saute the marinated beef for 5 minutes. Add the onion and saute for another 5 minutes.
  • Add the marinade and simmer for 25-30 minutes until the beef is tender.
  • Serve with steam rice. This is good eaten when it’s piping hot. Yummy!

Note:

If lemon is not available where you live, you can substitute it with calamansi.
