Bulgogi

Commonly known as Korean BBQ short ribs, these burst with savory flavor! In order for the marinade to really sink in and penetrate the meat, the ribs are sliced thin. A cast iron pan or wok will work best for this recipe. Pair it with steamed rice, steamed veggies, kimchi, and eat with chopsticks for the real Korean experience!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs short ribs
  • 3/4 cup soysauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce or pear puree
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp spring onion
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp pepper flakes

Directions:

  • In a bowl, add all the ingredients, except for the meat, and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the meat and marinate overnight.
  • Preheat your cast iron pan.
  • Place the meat to your pan but don’ t over crowd it. Brush some of the marinade to the meat. Cook until golden brown.
  • Serve with steam rice and kimchi. Enjoy!

Note:

If you can’t find short ribs, use flank steak or even chuck roast if you want. Just make sure you slice it thinly for the marinade to penetrate well.

Combine the meat with ginger , garlic, pear puree, and sesame seeds, spring onions, pepper, and pepper flakes.
Add the soy sauce, vinegar, rice vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil.
Heat the cast iron pan and arrange the ribs on a single layer. Brown both sides and brushing the meat with the marinade.
Transfer into a plate and serve while warm.

Serve with steamed rice and kimchi. Yum!
