Champorado is a Filipino dish made of sticky rice and cocoa powder. It’s more like a rice pudding and is traditionally eaten for breakfast. They’re both delicious warm or cold and is good with evaporated milk. If you like chocolate this is a good dish to try.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sweet glutinous rice
- 12 cups water
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar or more as needed
- 3/4 cup dutch cocoa powder
Directions:
- In a bowl, add the glutinuos rice and rinse couple of times.
- Place the rice in a pot and add 12 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
- In a small bowl, add the cocoa powder and add about half a cup of boiling water.
- Stir until all the cocoa powder has dissolved and no more lumps.
- Add the cocoa mixture to the rice.
- Add the sugar and stir.
- Simmer for 40 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Drizzle with evaporated milk on top. Yum!
Note:
If the rice gets too thick, just add more water until you reach the consistency you prefer.
