Fried Fava Beans

Who knew throwing some beans into frying oil could taste so good? I first came across these at my local Asian grocery, but of course, I knew I could make a better version! To be honest, considering the cost of its ingredients, it seemed way too overpriced; not only that, I felt persistent stinging on my lips because they were just too salty! Anyways, this recipe is definitely worth a try. Not only does it taste good, but fava beans are also naturally protein rich, so there’s nothing to lose!

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz dried fava beans
  • Garlic powder
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Wash the beans a few times.
  2. Transfer the beans in a bowl and soaked in cold water overnight.
  3. Drain the beans and place in a bowl lined with paper towel.
  4. Deep fry the beans until crispy, this should take about 30 minutes to cook. Make sure you watched it closely as the oil may bubble up and overflow in the last stage of cooking.
  5. Transfer into a dish and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Enjoy!

Note:

It’s important to soak the beans overnight to make it soft before frying. The oil can bubble up and overflow. Watch it closely and turn the heat to low.

Wash the beans several times.
Soak in cold water overnight.
The beans doubled in size after ten hours of soaking.
