Something about Mediterranean dishes makes you hungry when you smell them. Must be the spices such as cinnamon cloves or allspice! This recipe is not too heavy with spices but has just enough to keep you wanting more!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground lamb or ground beef
- 5 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 medium sized red onion, grated or finely chopped
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped mint
- 1/3 cup chopped parsley
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
Directions:
- In a bowl, add the ground lamb and use a fork to break up the meat.
- Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix well to combine.
- Refrigerate overnight for the flavor to develop.
- Soak the skewers in water for 30 minutes.
- Shape the meat into torpedo shape.
- Insert the meat into the skewers. Do this until you finished all the meat.
- Place on the grill and cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve with tzakiki. (recipe available in my site)
Note:
You can substitute the ground lamb with ground beef. Use 70/30 for more juiciness and flavor.
