Potato Chips

Everyone knows that store bought potato chips aren’t good for you! They are too often loaded with fats and sodium. So make your own healthier, tastier potato chips at home! This recipe uses ranch powder to season the chips, because healthy food doesn’t have to taste bad! Try it out!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • Vegetable,oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper
  • Ranch seasoning powder

Directions:

  • Wash and peel the potatoes.
  • Using a mandoline, cut the potatoes in thin slices.
  • Directly place the potatoes in a bowl of cold water mix with a tablespoon of salt to prevent from browning.
  • Let it stand in salted water for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes, drain the potatoes and allow to dry for an hour on a cloth or dry with paper towels.
  • Heat your oil in a deep fryer.
  • Add the potatoes by batches and fry until golden brown. Making sure you stir it once in a while.
  • Do this until you finish all the potatoes.
  • Place in a dish and seasoned with salt, pepper, and ranch seasoning powder.
  • Serve while warm. Yummy!

Note:

If you don’t have a mandolin you can either use a peeler or just manually cut it.

Place the peeled potatoes in a bowl filled with water to avoid oxidation.
After you cut the potatoes place it in a bowl with salted water and let it soak for 30 minutes.
Fry in batches making sure you stir once in a while.


When it starts to turn golden brown, remove and place in a dish lined with paper towel to remove excess oil.
Sprinkle some ranch powder for flavor
