Seeing the picture above you might assume it’s just a scoop of rice sitting on some gravy! But even my family was surprised to bite into a meat patty beneath the rice! This is a copycat recipe for Jollibee’s burger steak. For anyone with a gluten allergy or on a gluten free diet, this is a great recipe to try.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground sirloin, 70/30
- 3 tbsp grated onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp dried parsley
- 3 tbsp italian breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 4 cups cooked calrose rice
- Crispy onions
- vegetable oil
Gravy
- 2 cups water
- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 small yellow onion, minced
- 2 tbsp brown gravy mix
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 5 pcs cremini mushroom, sliced thinly
- salt and pepper
Directions
- In a bowl mix together ground beef, grated onion, garlic powder, parsley, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. Shape into patties the same size as your ring mold.
- In a pan heat about 3 tablespoon oil and fry the patties until golden brown on both sides.
- Prepare the rice by placing about 3 tbsp in your ring mold and make sure you press it firmly to shape. Add your patties then add another 3 tbsp of rice on top and press it firmly. Carefully remove the mold.
- Pour some of the sauce in a plate and place the rice on top of it.
- Garnish with some fried onions.
- Delish!
Note:
Using a ring mold makes the presentation nice. You can get it online or at any restaurant supply. But if you don’t have a ring mold, you can just use your hand to make a rice patty.
