Turon in Pineapple Rum Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 3 saba banana or plantain
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup jackfruit, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 rum
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp banana flavor
  • 1/8 tsp chili powder
  • skim milk
  • Springroll (lumpia) wrapper

Directions:

  • Peel and slice the banana in half then cut into four strip.
  • Wrap the banana in lumpia wrapper.
  • Deep fry in vegetable oil for about 20 minutes.
  • In a heated wok, add the butter and jackfruit. Saute the jackfruit until tender about 10 minutes.
  • Add the pineapple juice, rum, sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon powder, banana flavor and chili powder. Saute until thick or the sugar starts to caramelize.
  • Add the fried banana and saute for another 5 minutes.
  • Transfer into a plate and drizzle with cinnamon powder and skim milk.
  • Serve while warm. Yum! Yum! Yum!
This is the Saba banana but you can use plantain if that’ s easier to obtain where you live.
Sliced thinly.
Place one piece of wrapper on a flat surface and put one piece of banana.
Wrap it tightly.
Deep fry until golden brown and crispy.
Drain in a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Mix with the caramelized sauce and saute for a few minutes. Drizzle with skim milk and cinnamon powder. Serve. Yum!😋
