Bibimbap

The name of this dish might sound funny, but its smacking goodness is no laughing matter! Flavorful and delicious, you can add just about anything you want to make it more colorful and delicious if you’d like! Personally, though, I came up with my favorite combination and below is the recipe for it!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chuck roast, cut into thin strips (cut it against the grain)
  • 2 roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 carrot, peeled and cut into strips
  • handful of beansprouts
  • 1 head baby bokchoy, steamed
  • 1 cup kimchi
  • Chopped cilantro
  • 2 pcs green onions, chopped
  • 1 sunny-side up egg
  • sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 cup steamed rice

Marinade for the beef:

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 pcs spring onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds

Directions:

  • Marinate the beef for two hours or overnight.
  • In a heated saucepan, add oil and saute the marinated beef in high heat (cast iron works best). Transfer into a plate and set aside.
  • In a big bowl, place the steam rice in the center.
  • Add all the vegetables, place it around the steamed rice.
  • Add the sunny-side up eggs on top.
  • Sprinkle with some toasted sesame seeds, spring onions and cilantro,
  • That’s it! Enjoy😋

Note:

Kimchi is available at any Asian store. The kimchi on this picture is homemade and takes a lot of work and time to make it, but it’s all worth it!
