Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken thigh or breast
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 3 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp mirin or sake
- 3 tbsp orange juice (optional)
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 3 tsp cornstarch
- 1/4 c water
- Spring onion
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
Directions:
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, oyster sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, orange juice, ginger, garlic, and mirin.
- Add the meat and marinate for 2 hrs or overnight.
- In a heated pan, add 3 tbsp oil and meat (reserve the marinade). Saute until tender. (You can also grill the meat if you prefer)
- Transfer the meat into a platter.
- Add the marinade to the pan and let it simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix the water and cornstarch. Add this to the marinade while stirring constantly.
- Put the meat back onto the pan and stir until combined.
- Add the sesame seeds and spring onions.
- Serve with steamed broccoli, carrots, and warm rice.
Note:
I usually make another batch of the marinade for extra sauce or as a drizzle.
